Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Tuesday said that global industry now recognises Bharat as a trusted and strategic supply-chain partner, backed by the country’s swift progress in developing a comprehensive semiconductor and artificial intelligence ecosystem.

Addressing the World Economic Forum here, Vaishnaw said Bharat is consistently building an end-to-end semiconductor ecosystem spanning all key segments of the value chain, including chip design, fabrication, packaging, materials, specialty gases and advanced equipment.

He said this holistic strategy is enabling India to lower its reliance on imports while opening up fresh avenues for global partnerships.

"Global industry increasingly views Bharat as a dependable supply-chain partner," Vaishnaw said.

"Bharat is creating a complete semiconductor ecosystem spanning design, fabrication, packaging, materials, gases and equipment," he added.

Vaishnaw said global companies now regard Bharat as a reliable partner in international supply chains, particularly as nations seek to diversify manufacturing locations and minimise risks arising from over-dependence on limited regions.

Underlining growing trust among global technology leaders in India, the minister said Google is expanding its engagement with Bharat’s artificial intelligence ecosystem.

This includes proposals for a $15 billion AI data centre in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, alongside deeper collaboration with Indian startups working on cutting-edge technology and innovation.

He said such investments underscore India’s growing role in future-facing technologies such as semiconductors, AI and digital infrastructure.

According to Vaishnaw, the government’s emphasis on policy certainty, skilled manpower and strong domestic demand is laying a solid base for sustained growth in the high-technology manufacturing sector.

The minister said Bharat is no longer only a consumer of technology but is fast emerging as a global centre for innovation, manufacturing and trusted supply chains.

"Google is reinforcing its commitment to India’s AI ecosystem, including a $15B AI data centre in Vizag & partnerships with Indian startups," the Union Minister said.
