Daimler India Commercial Vehicles (DICV), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Daimler Truck AG, has inaugurated a new BharatBenz service centre in Silchar, Assam, marking a significant step in the company's expansion into the Northeast region. The facility has been established in partnership with PPS Trucking, recognised as one of India's largest automobile dealer groups, and is designed to bring professional-grade after-sales support closer to fleet operators navigating some of the country's most challenging terrain.
Located on the Silchar Bypass at Ram Nagar near ISBT on NH 37, the workshop spans 30,000 square feet and houses eight fully equipped service bays. The centre has been built with the capacity to service up to 3,000 vehicles annually and is stocked with genuine BharatBenz spare parts, advanced diagnostic systems, and modern tooling infrastructure. To further reduce vehicle downtime, mobile service vans are available around the clock, providing roadside assistance to fleet operators across the region.
The strategic location of the Silchar facility is no coincidence. The centre sits at a critical node on freight corridors connecting Assam with Mizoram and Manipur — a logistics belt that is witnessing increasing commercial activity. This growth is being driven by a combination of infrastructure investment in the Barak Valley, ongoing road development under the Asom Mala 3.0 programme, and rising industrial demand linked to limestone extraction in the North Cachar Hills district of Dima Hasao. That limestone supply chain feeds cement manufacturing operations spread across Assam, making reliable commercial vehicle uptime a genuine operational priority for businesses in the region.
Rajiv Chaturvedi, President and Chief Business Officer at DICV, underlined the company's commitment to serving fleet operators in geographically demanding markets. "Fleet operators in the Northeast face some of the most demanding route conditions in the country, and they deserve after-sales support that matches that reality.
With PPS Trucking, we've built a facility in Silchar that puts genuine service capability within reach — advanced diagnostics, trained technicians, round-the-clock roadside support. At BharatBenz, proximity to the customer is not just a metric; it's the measure of how seriously we take the ownership experience," he said.
Rajiv Sanghvi, Managing Director of PPS Trucking, echoed that sentiment while highlighting the dealer group's broader ambitions in the region. "As one of BharatBenz's largest partners, we share a commitment to customer-centricity, expanded presence and market reach, and improved total cost of ownership. The Silchar facility strengthens our footprint at a key junction in the Northeast corridor, connecting Assam with Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura," Sanghvi stated.
The workshop is staffed by 35 trained and certified technicians and has been thoughtfully designed with driver welfare as a core consideration. Dedicated rest areas and customer-facing amenities are built into the facility layout, reflecting an understanding that long-haul drivers spend extended hours away from home and require more than just mechanical servicing. The range of services available includes preventive maintenance, scheduled servicing, on-site support, and express service options — all underpinned by a regional spare parts inventory specifically maintained to reduce turnaround times and keep commercial fleets operational.
The Silchar launch is part of a broader and deliberate strategy shared by BharatBenz and PPS Trucking to deepen their combined network presence across India's Northeast. Both companies have identified service proximity, parts availability, and fleet uptime as the three foundational pillars of their long-term growth plans in this market. As the Northeast continues to attract increased infrastructure spending and industrial investment, the demand for dependable commercial vehicle support services is expected to grow steadily, and the new Silchar centre positions both DICV and PPS Trucking to capitalise on that momentum.
