A new Gartner survey reveals that Artificial Intelligence (AI), Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) concerns, and geopolitics are the top three factors shaping supply chain strategies in 2025. As businesses face increasing pressures to streamline operations while addressing sustainability and social responsibility, AI is being leveraged to enhance supply chain forecasting, efficiency, and decision-making.
The growing focus on ESG is influencing supply chains to adopt more sustainable practices, including reducing carbon footprints and improving labor conditions. Companies are prioritizing ethical sourcing and transparency, as customers and investors demand higher standards in these areas.
Geopolitical uncertainties, such as trade tensions and regional conflicts, are also forcing companies to rethink their supply chain resilience. With global disruptions like the COVID-19 pandemic and the Russia-Ukraine conflict still affecting supply chains, organizations are now more focused on diversifying their suppliers and reshoring production to mitigate risks. The survey underscores that businesses need to adapt quickly to these evolving influences to maintain competitive advantages.
