BENGALURU: Adani Logistics has reached a significant milestone in sustainable multimodal logistics with the successful operation of its first import block train transporting auto parts. This service, run in collaboration with Maersk Line for the Volvo Group, connects Ennore Port to Adani ICD Malur, enhancing inland cargo connectivity across South India.

The inaugural block train represents a major step toward creating a faster, more reliable, and cost-efficient supply chain across Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. It also showcases the shared commitment of Adani, Maersk, and Volvo Group to advance greener logistics solutions and reduce the carbon footprint of freight movement.

Adani ICD Malur, the newest Inland Container Depot serving Bengaluru, is emerging as a key multimodal logistics hub in the region. Supported by seamless rail connectivity and proximity to major industrial clusters, the facility is redefining cargo movement efficiency, lowering transit times, and cutting logistics costs.

Using rail for this movement has also significantly reduced carbon emissions, reinforcing sustainability goals and promoting environmentally responsible trade practices. The initiative aligns with the broader push for green logistics, leveraging improved rail infrastructure and integrated multimodal operations.

The successful execution of the first shipment was facilitated by DSV – Global Transport and Logistics, acting as the first import Customs House Agent (CHA), while Vibrant Service managed transport operations.

This first-of-its-kind block train demonstrates the potential of collaborative logistics solutions to drive efficiency, sustainability, and innovation. With several more such shipments planned, Adani ICD Malur is set to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of environmentally responsible and multimodal logistics in India.
